Coffee Club --Every Sunday Morning at 8:45

The week after Easter we began a new environment on Sunday morning at 8:45 called the Coffee Club.  The purpose of this environment is to create a place to engage both the inerrant word and the Indwelling Word.  The reason we began the Coffee Club is to have a place to wrestle through the reality of the New Covenant.  Our approach to Scripture is often one of what we need to “do” for God or it can become a place that we constantly try to measure up to and fail miserably.   We do not approach the Bible as a place that reveals who we are in Christ and the reality of living by a new way.  A new way that is not caught up in rules or performance but one of freedom.  The Coffee Club is relaxed yet very engaging.  It is a place to discover the incredible freedom we have in Christ.  We have been exploring I Corinthians.

We have been stirring up a lot of questions and discussion through the Sunday morning sermon and the Coffee Club is a great place to explore that more.  It is becoming a very key place in the life of SCC to wrestle with our new identity and the realities of that.    I hope over this summer you will get a chance to join us.  I have included some short blurbs from some of the people who have been coming to give you a little flavor of what is happening at the Coffee Club.

“Coffee Club has really connected what I hear in the service and what we talk about at small group. I feel like I'm really getting to know scripture and understand it in a totally new way.”--Stacie Flood

“The coffee club is a relaxed group that spend 45 minutes on Sunday morning looking at God's amazing love letter to us.  We read and discuss with such freedom.”--Pauline Karcher

“In my head, I call Coffee Club Sunday School.  Yet it is truly unlike any other Sunday School I've experienced in over 20 years.  Interestingly, it IS what every Sunday School should and was meant to be....encouraging one another in the Spirit to BE and LIVE our discipleship.  I have needed this so badly for so long.  This could not have come at a better time.  So SS or Coffee Talk.  I'm pretty sure the title doesn't matter.  It's the Spirit, and genuine discipleship and fellowship of Christ Himself that's happening in that little room on Sunday mornings.... and in my heart all week!”--Patrice Pederson
